EVERGREEN STATE FAIR

August 24 - September 4, 2023

Little Moments, Big Memories!

The Evergreen State Fair is the showcase event for Snohomish County 4-H where youth exhibit project work and participate in competitive events that demonstrate all the important accomplishments for the year. The Technology Program uses the Fair to show off the work we have done in our robotics competitions, computer project works and any individual project work you have done.

There are many events planned where you can show off your skills including:

  • Sumobots

  • Line tracker

  • Blindfold parts ID

  • Computer troubleshooting

  • GPS

  • Digital Photo

  • Digital Design

  • 3D Printing

  • On the spot competitions

The Fair Exhibits provides an opportunity to share in your accomplishments and for others to check out what 4-H offers.

Online enrollment is required.  Please navigate to the Evergreen State Fair Online Enrollment System.  Instructions for enrollment are here.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Every participant shall be a member in good standing with a club registered in Snohomish County 4-H.  Note: A participant does not have to be a member of the Technology Program to submit project entries or participate in Program events at Fair.

  2. Every participant shall have participated in at least one 4-H Technology Program level event prior to Fair.  The events that qualify for this requirement vary from year to year and are available from the Snohomish County 4-H Technology Program Leader.  Please consult with your club leader on specific details.

  3. Every participant shall submit one informational poster at project submission date announced by the Fair Superintendent.  The poster shall convey a simple idea related to technology. Posters will be on display throughout the Fair event. Names and age shall be listed on the BACK of the poster.  The poster can be on poster board of the kind you can purchase at Target, Wal-Mart, Staples etc.  Alternatively, a group has the option to submit one Educational Exhibit as their poster entry and satisfy this requirement.  Details are available from the Fair Superintendent or the Technology Program Leader.

  4. Every participant shall perform four hours of stewardship in two hour increments. A Sign Up Genius will be provided to allow each participant a chance to sign up for a time of their choosing. Participation beyond the required four hours is strongly encouraged as we are a small program and the booth is staff from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm daily! During stewardship, the participant will support the adult mentors and Fair Superintendent with demonstrations to the public showcasing the program’s content. In addition, there may be special activities as assigned by the adult mentors. This is a great opportunity to expand your skills in public interaction and skills demonstration.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

In addition to the program level event, the poster and stewardship, there are many other activities that you can participate in. They include:

  • Exhibiting your projects for judging and show them off during Fair

  • Participating in the activities during Fair

    • CAD drawings

    • Graphic designs

    • Electronic systems

    • 3D printing

  • Create and submit an educational exhibit

    • It’s a more extensive informational poster on multiple panels. Specific requirements are in the Fair Handbook.

    • Can be more interactive

    • Unlike 4H Informational Exhibits and Technology projects that are judged just within the Technology program, Educational Exhibits are judged against all other educational exhibits shown at the Fair.

    • More competition
